Choosing between ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini starts with the work you need help doing. List a few recurring tasks, test the same approved material in each tool you are considering, and compare the results after review.

You may find that one tool is enough. Add another when a specific task or integration justifies it.

Start with the job, not the tool

Write down the tasks you repeat every week. Listing descriptions, follow-up messages, reading long documents, cleaning up your CRM, drafting social posts. Use that list to choose the examples for your comparison.

A simple starting setup for a residential agent: a generalist for follow-ups and social drafts, plus a careful reader for the occasional long document. A commercial agent might flip the weight toward the careful reader first. Build around your jobs, not around a review you read.

How to test a tool before you trust it

Do not judge a tool on a toy question. Feed it a real job you already know the answer to, then measure the result against your own standard. You are the quality control, not the model.

Run the same prompt through two tools and compare. Keep notes on factual errors, missing details, and the edits each draft needs.

The trap: collecting tools instead of using them

Repeatedly changing tools makes it harder to compare results. Give a useful candidate enough trials to learn its limitations, then keep or drop it based on those results.

Speed is the point, but it is not the priority. Verify anything a client will see or sign. Never paste client financials, contracts, or personal details into a tool without knowing how that tool handles the data.
